TODAY

11 a.m.: Capitol grounds open to public. Free. Ninth Street gate is only entrance.

1-5:30 p.m.: Entertainment by Virginia musicians from stage near Bank Street on Capitol grounds.

3 p.m.: Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip arrive at Richmond International Airport.

3:35 p.m.: They arrive at Executive Mansion in Capitol Square.

3:50 p.m.: Queen’s walkabout from mansion to Capitol begins.

4:10 p.m.: Queen and prince arrive at south steps of Capitol.

4:40 p.m.: Queen addresses General Assembly in House chamber.

Tips for the day at Capitol Square

Permitted: picnic lunch, soft drinks in plastic bottles, cameras, cell phones, blankets. There will be no food vendors.

Prohibited: coolers, soft drinks in cans, umbrellas, lawn furniture, chairs in bags, signs or banners, alcohol, pets. If it rains, bring a poncho.

Shuttle: GRTC free shuttle buses from University of Richmond football stadium near Byrd Park to Marshall Street between Eighth and Ninth streets, and from Cloverleaf Mall to Broad Street between 10th and 11th streets, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Parking: at or near Richmond Coliseum, 601 E. Leigh St.

Closures: selected city offices and state offices in the Capitol Square area.

Off work: State employees in buildings surrounding Capitol Square are taking today off. Other state employees can take off any day until June 30. City employees who work at City Hall and other buildings near Capitol are on administrative leave during the afternoon.

Colonial Williamsburg

Carriage ride: The queen and prince arrive in Williamsburg at 5:35 p.m. Their carriage ride on Duke of Gloucester Street begins about 10 minutes later. Visitors should arrive early; access is through security screening. Large video screen in historic area on Nicholson Street at Market Square.

Live video streaming: The arrival and carriage ride can be accessed through www.history.org, www.colonialwilliamsburg.com or www.colonialwilliamsburg.org. The Web site includes a slide show and video from Her Majesty’s 1957 visit to Williamsburg and Jamestown.

TOMORROW

10:10 a.m.: The queen and prince arrive at Jamestown Settlement on state Route 31, walk to fort reproduction, then tour it. Prince Philip tours reproduction of ship Susan Constant. Admission to mall free on first-come, first-served basis, from 7 to 9 a.m. through museum entrance. Standing room only. Blankets permitted; chairs and coolers prohibited. Parking limited. Large video screen next to visitor services.

11 a.m.: The queen and prince arrive at Historic Jamestowne Island archaeological site. Invited guests only. Queen visits museum. Prince Philip visits conservation area.

12:35 p.m.: The queen attends lunch at Governor’s Palace in Colonial Williamsburg.

12:40 p.m.: Prince Philip arrives at Nauticus complex in Norfolk.

2:30 p.m.: The queen visits College of William and Mary, tours Wren Building and watches bell-ringing on last day of class. Viewing locations with security screening; large video screens provided.

2:50 p.m.: Prince Philip attends reception aboard mothballed Wisconsin in honor of United Kingdom military staff and families.

The queen and prince then fly to Kentucky for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.
