Morocco to Host First African Nutrition Conference

Morocco to host first African nutrition conference RABAT, May 2 (Xinhua) — The first conference of the African federation of nutrition societies (FANUS) will be held from May 7 to May 9 in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate on the theme of ” nutritional health and human development in Africa.”

According to a statement issued by the organizers on Wednesday, the conference is expected to host plenary conferences presided over by eminent African and international researchers, symposiums on topical issues on nutrition and health, workshops on recent research results and scientific data.

The meeting, which is the biggest scientific gathering on nutrition to be held on the African continent, will also hold seminars on modern methods of teaching nutrition.

Participants will also debate on other themes concerning nutrition challenges in Africa, eradication of poverty, public nutrition and health, food security, nutrition and aids, and nutrition and life cycle.

Other subjects to be discussed by the researchers include the triple burden of malnutrition and pandemics in Africa, bio- fortification and biodiversity, millennium development goals and applied nutrition, as well as nutrition and human rights: the right to food.
