NDRI to Honor Researchers for Advances in Science

WHAT:

“CELEBRATING SCIENCE”

NDRI, the leader in providing human biomaterials to research scientists, will host an awards dinner honoring top scientists and others who partner with NDRI to advance medical discovery. NDRI President Lee Ducat and others will present:

 

Outstanding Science Award 2007 to:

The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases of The National Institutes of Health; newly-appointed Director Griffin P. Rogers, M.D., M.A.C.P., accepting; and

 

Lou Philipson, M.D., PH.D., Endocrinologist, The University of Chicago. Dr. Philipson is among a group of researchers who have successfully screened and diagnosed patients with a rare form of neonatal diabetes. Through genetics, they have found that these patients can be managed with medication rather than insulin. Ability to identify adults with this type can reduce the number of insulin-dependent Americans.

 

Distinguished Service to Science 2007:

Outstanding Spirit Award 2007: to “The Do-Gooders”

Gerry Sills, Co-Founder of The Do-Gooders, a Philadelphia group of philanthropists who raise money through local initiatives
