Ear Problem Nixes ZZ Top’s European Gig
May 16, 2007
An inner ear problem for ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill has forced the group to cancel its European tour so the bassist-singer can undergo treatment in California.
Hill is being treated in Beverly Hills, Calif., for acoustic neuroma, a benign growth in his inner ear that is affecting his hearing, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday.
His specialist, Dr. Shawn Nasseri, said plans do not include surgery.
In the near term, we plan to stabilize Dusty’s hearing and symptoms with medication and a conservative management strategy, Nasseri said in a statement.
ZZ Top’s European tour was to have begun June 15 in Leipzig, Germany, and run into early July. American tour dates, scheduled for July and August, weren’t expected to be affected.
