CheckUps Clinics to Provide Specimen Collection Services for LabCorp

NEW YORK, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- CheckUps, the retail-based, non-emergency walk-in medical facility, and Laboratory Corporation of America(R) Holdings (LabCorp(R)) , today announced an agreement under which CheckUps clinics will perform specimen collections for LabCorp.
The agreement means that patients whose laboratory testing will be performed by LabCorp will now have the convenience of having their blood drawn at CheckUps clinics, which currently operate in Wal-Mart SuperCenters in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
LabCorp, a national clinical laboratory company based in Burlington, North Carolina, offers one of the broadest ranges of testing services used by the medical profession in routine testing, patient diagnosis, and in the monitoring and treatment of disease, as well as an extensive menu of specialty and oncology testing services. Its routine tests include blood chemistry analyses, urinalyses, blood cell counts, thyroid tests, Pap tests, HIV tests, microbiology cultures and procedures, and alcohol and other substance-abuse tests.

CheckUps currently operates walk-in retail health clinics in 23 cities in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, all located inside Wal-Mart stores.
CheckUps clinics diagnose and treat common ailments such as strep throat, ear and sinus infections, and provide routine pediatric care, blood screenings, and immunizations, along with services such as healthy living counseling. CheckUps nurse practitioners can write and email prescriptions to the patient's preferred pharmacy. Visits typically take under 15 minutes and no appointments are necessary.
