FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., May 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In continued celebration of Mental Health Month, Community Network Services, Inc. (CNS), an Oakland County private, non-profit human services agency that provides comprehensive mental health and social services invites the public to attend the premiere of its anti-stigma video "Did You Know?" This premiere presentation that takes a look into how stigma affects individuals and families daily will be shown on Tuesday May 29, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at West Bloomfield High, 4925 Orchard Lake Rd., West Bloomfield, MI. 48323. There is no cost to attend.
The video speaks in support of one of CNS' primary programs, the award- winning Anti-Stigma Program created by several CNS staff members to decrease the stigma attached to mental health. Funded through a grant from the federal Department of Community Health, the program is hosted by CNS' Anti-Stigma Team- three women who have come forward to share their personal experiences and struggles with mental health in an effort to make a difference in the lives of others.
"The purpose of this premiere is to celebrate the showing of the first video project that the Anti-Stigma Team has ever done. We intend to spread our anti-stigma message much farther and this video is just one vehicle we'll use to do that," said Laura Farwell, education and training director and one of the founders of the Anti-Stigma Program. "The video incorporates the stories of others, family members, youth, professionals as well as other consumers who have a story to tell. It is our hope that others will learn from their experiences and begin to eliminate the discrimination against people who happen to have a mental health diagnosis."
