Health Net Federal Services (Health Net), the government operations division of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), today announced its selection of NaviMedix, Inc., the leader and innovator in automating provider communications with health plans, care management companies and other industry participants, to help improve communications with its provider network and enhance member care management. Health Net will use NaviMedix's Web-based payer-provider communications network, NaviNet®, to automate its referral and pre-authorization processes, increasing efficiency and reliability and enabling physician offices and hospitals to receive faster responses from the health plan about their patients' care.
With NaviNet, Health Net will be able to reallocate valuable clinical resources from performing administrative tasks to focus more on care management, and its network providers will virtually eliminate time-consuming phone- and paper-based interactions with the health plan. Health Net will also see significant operational efficiencies associated with eliminating manual review processes and decreasing demands on its call center and other internal resources.
"Health Net Federal Services' goal has always been to provide the fastest and most reliable services for our 100,000 civilian providers," said Paul Gilbertson, chief operating officer of Health Net Federal Services. "NaviNet will make it much easier and convenient for our providers to manage their communications with us. We are also taking a significant step forward in our ability to capture, analyze and act on utilization data related to referrals and pre-authorizations."
NaviMedix solutions deliver unprecedented transaction volume and value to its health plan partners and other NaviNet sponsors, by providing each sponsor with access to a ready-made network of providers already using the Web portal to interact with multiple health plans and partners. The NaviNet provider network consists of over 180,000 physicians in 50 states, all using NaviNet to communicate with multiple sponsors using a common workflow interface.
"NaviMedix is delivering benefits for payers, care managers and healthcare providers alike via NaviNet, our network platform that will eventually offer a single point of access for providers to interact with all health plans as well as other sponsors -- at no cost," said Tim Hargarten, president and chief executive officer of NaviMedix. "NaviNet is emerging as the communications platform preferred by providers. We give our partners a real-time channel to reach physicians and we give physicians an information-sharing mechanism to communicate with the constituents involved in their patients' care."
