As the trend of retail medicine expands, a new company, The Little Clinic, said it is opening several sites in the grocery chain Publix.

The company said it plans to open The Little Clinic in four south Florida-based Publix supermarkets.

Following the lead of other retail clinics like RediClinic and MinuteClinic, The Little Clinic said it would staff its sites with nurse practitioners who will dispense seven-day-a-week medical services — mostly for under $60 — for minor illnesses like fevers, earaches, sore throat and rashes, and will also offer wellness care like physicals, screenings and vaccinations.

The Little Clinic said it will add a personal touch by providing computerized patient history and referrals to primary care doctors or hospitals when needed.

We are about wellness and providing personalized healthcare services, and Publix is leader in meeting the needs of its customers, with a dedicated effort to promote health and wellness, said Lisa Loscalzo, executive vice president of The Little Clinic.
