Gleason Opens Season With St. Clair’s ‘Inside and Out’

Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor starts its 2007 season Saturday with Helen St. Clair’s new show “Inside and Out.”

St. Clair’s oil paintings cover a range of subjects, including figures, interiors, landscapes and still lifes.

St. Clair was educated at Brown and the Rhode Island School of Design, and has been painting for over 30 years.

Gleason Fine Art, now in its 23rd year, is located at 31 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor. The opening will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 633-6849.

Old Days on the Androscoggin – The Bethel Historical Society will hold its 28th annual Faye Taylor Memorial Art Show on Saturday. The show features student artwork inspired by the Androscoggin River. A panel of judges will award prizes. The contest is named after the late Faye Sanborn Taylor, a local artist. Collective Perspecitve – The Dowling Walsh Gallery hosts its opening exhibition, “Collective Perspective,” on Friday. The exhibit will feature work by gallery and guest artists. The gallery has recently been renovated and expanded, encompassing a total of 2,000 square feet of floor space. Gallery manager Jake Dowling is a native of midcoast Maine and a graduate of the University of Delaware. The gallery is at 357 Main St. in Rockland. It will feature a revolving schedule of exhibitions over the summer and will be open in the summer from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. weekdays and Saturday, with extended hours to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Appearances – Matt Sesow’s paintings will be opening Friday at Rougette Gallery in Rockland. Sesow’s work has been featured in several museums including the Corcoran Museum in Washington, D.C. The show runs through June 30. Rougette Gallery is at 340 Main St. and is open from noon to 5 p.m Friday and Saturday, and from 5:15 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.
