Daxor Corporation (AMEX: DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a signed trial agreement for a second Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 from Saint Luke's Hospital of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Following the purchase of their first BVA-100, Saint Luke's Hospital decided to acquire a second BVA-100 for their Allentown, Pennsylvania location. Saint Luke's Hospital is a non-profit, tertiary-care, teaching hospital with campuses located in Bethlehem, Allentown and Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
Saint Luke's Hospital is a fully accredited Level I trauma center, offering the region's most honored open-heart surgery program and the Saint Luke's Regional Heart Center, ranked as one of the nation's Best Heart Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for seven consecutive years (1999-2005). Saint Luke's Hospital has also been recognized with awards in "100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals" and the "100 Top ICU Hospitals." Following the purchase of their first BVA-100, Saint Luke's Hospital's Nuclear Medicine Department realized a need for a second BVA-100 for their Allentown location to respond to the clinical requirements of a major expansion and implementation of a new cardiovascular program.
Like Saint Luke's Hospital, many institutions and their patients have benefited from the use of Daxor's BVA-100 to diagnose and guide therapy in the treatment of a patient's blood volume. An upcoming symposium publication in a nationally recognized, peer-reviewed publication is scheduled for publication next month. The symposium publication will report on many clinical uses of a blood volume analysis in the diagnosis and treatment of various disease states with volume abnormalities. Various researchers will report on their use of Daxor's BVA-100 and the results of their respective clinical studies.
Other nationally renowned hospitals which have purchased the BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer after using it on a clinical trial basis are The Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic, and New York University Medical Center. Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex, Daxor's single use diagnostic kit.
