New Fitness Club Considered Flagship of Growing Chinese Fitness Industry
A new fitness club considered to be a flagship club for China’s burgeoning fitness industry opened this month in the prestigious Jin Mao Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world.
The 32,000 square-foot (3,000 meter) Will’s Gym contains wall-to-wall equipment from pure fitness company Nautilus, Inc. (NYSE: NLS), occupying two floors of the 88-story landmark skyscraper in the Pudong district of Shanghai, among the world’s top 25 population centers. It is the eighth and largest club opened under the Will’s Gym brand in Shanghai.
“Fitness is quickly becoming important to the growing middle and upper class in China, just like in Western Europe and North America,” said businessman Will Wang, owner of Will’s Gym, who has short-term plans to double the number of Will’s Gyms locations. “We are establishing our position in this growing market by selecting popular locations and installing the finest equipment in the fitness industry.”
The new club will serve business clientele from more than 100 leading corporations who have operations in the Jin Mao Tower and surrounding area. Members will have access to 166 items of fitness equipment spanning seven lines of Nautilus cardiovascular products and three lines of Nautilus strength products. Annual memberships are RMB 6000-9000, or about $70-100 a month.
