Griffin International, Golf Galaxy Announce National Partnership to Benefit Cancer Research Institute

Posted on: Wednesday, 13 June 2007, 12:02 CDT

Griffin International Companies, one of the country's leading manufacturers and suppliers of consumer goods, announced today that it is teaming up with Golf Galaxy, one of the country's largest retail outlets of golfing equipment, apparel and accessories, in a national retail product partnership to support the Cancer Research Institute. For the remainder of 2007, Griffin will donate 5 percent of the net profits from sales of its Kali line of women's golf products, sold exclusively through Golf Galaxy's stores in 29 states, to the Cancer Research Institute in support of the Institute's efforts to develop cancer vaccines and antibody therapies for women's cancers.

"We are very pleased and proud to help support the important activities of the Cancer Research Institute," said Bob Griffin, president and CEO of Griffin International. "This is a great way for Golf Galaxy customers to get some top-notch golf equipment and accessories and to help a very important research endeavor as well. We're especially indebted to Golf Galaxy for making this promotion possible through use of the store and website for in-store support and promotion."

The Kali line of Griffin-developed golf products for women is sold at Golf Galaxy stores throughout the country. Griffin International will also raise awareness of the Cancer Research Institute's science and public education programs by placing the Institute's logo on the products, which include golf head covers, gloves, towels, golf tees, umbrellas and other products for the woman golfer.

"Golf Galaxy is proud to partner with Griffin International on Kali Golf," said Karen Schipke, Golf Galaxy buyer. "Not only will we be providing fresh, new accessories designed specifically for the woman golfer, we will be supporting a very worthy cause in the Cancer Research Institute."

Jill O'Donnell-Tormey, Ph.D., executive director of the Cancer Research Institute, welcomed the opportunity to increase awareness of the Institute's work among Griffin International's customers:

"More than a quarter-million women in the United States will be diagnosed this year with breast, uterine, ovarian, and other women's cancers, and almost 100,000 will die. Through their new partnership with the Cancer Research Institute, Griffin International and Golf Galaxy are helping to fight these diseases and save women's lives."
