Ludesi CEO to Lecture on Quality Control &Amp; Reproducibility in 2D Gel Image Analysis at NIH BIO-TRAC Training Courses

Posted on: Monday, 18 June 2007, 12:02 CDT

Ludesi AB, developer and provider of the world's leading 2D Gel Image Analysis Service, today announced that its Founder and CEO Ola Forsstrom-Olsson will lecture at the upcoming BIO-TRAC Biotechnology Training Courses at the National Institutes of Health on June 25-29, 2007. Mr. Forsstrom-Olsson will present information on the subject of "Quality Control and Reproducibility in Measurements of Quantitative Differences between Clinical Samples in 2D Gel Electrophoresis" during TRAC 33: Clinical Proteomics and Biomarker Discovery. Mr. Forsstrom-Olsson is a frequently invited speaker and presenter of his company's innovative methodologies and scientific studies at medical industry events and symposiums. For more information about all of the courses available at BIO-TRAC or how to register for this event, visit the Web site: http://www.biotrac.com/pages/registrationsum.html.

"To ensure reproducibility and accuracy in 2D Gel Image Analysis experiments, proper protocols and quality controls must be applied consistently throughout each stage of the analysis process," stated Ola Forsstrom-Olsson, founder and CEO of Ludesi AB. "Our experts at the Ludesi Image Analysis Service Center utilize this methodology, in conjunction with our powerful, proprietary analysis software, to ensure the industry's highest level of accuracy with reproducible results, and with no manual software labor for the scientists."

About TRAC 33: Clinical Proteomics and Biomarker Discovery

The emerging field of Clinical Proteomics refers to the application of proteomic technologies to investigate protein expression differences in clinically obtained biological samples. A consequence of these approaches has been the renewed interest in identifying new biomarkers which may useful for the diagnosis of disease or monitoring of patient response to therapy. Researchers involved in Clinical Proteomics face numerous methodological, analytical, and statistical challenges that need to be addressed in order for successful completion of projects. Additionally, large scale biomarker discovery efforts include the coordination of many different disciplines, such as biochemistry, proteomics and mass spectrometry, clinical chemistry and bioinformatics. In this course, students will be exposed to many of the challenging aspects of biomarker discovery projects, as well as to the numerous analytical platforms that may be employed.

About BIO-TRAC

BIO-TRAC is a series of daytime Biotechnology Training Courses. These "hands on" lecture and laboratory training courses are offered by the FAES under contract with R/M Nardone Associates, Inc. at the National Institutes of Health.

About the Ludesi 2D GE Image Analysis Service

A growing number of leading global research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and universities are switching to the Ludesi service because of its two advantages over existing 2DGE image analysis software solutions. First, because it is a service, scientists and researchers don't have to purchase software, be trained, or spend valuable time manually manipulating software to try and obtain good results. Second, the Ludesi solution consistently improves the number of correctly-identified protein regulations over existing software packages and reduces the false discovery rate.

Current Ludesi Customers Include:

-- DSM Nutritional Products, Switzerland -- Johns Hopkins Proteomics Center, USA -- Karolinska Institute, Sweden -- Mayo Clinic, USA -- Mitsubishi Pharma, Japan -- NIH, National Eye Institute, USA -- NIH, Critical Care, USA -- NIH, Nuclear Medicine, USA
