Dushanbe, 20 June: From five to six cases of people contracting haemorrhagic fever have been registered in Tajikistan over the past month, a chief specialist of the environmental health and epidemiology department of the Tajik Health Ministry, Navruz Jafarov, has told the Asia-Plus news agency.

He said these cases had been logged in Rudaki, Tursunzoda, Fayzobod, Temurmalik, Vose and Danghara districts.

One death from the disease was also registered over this period. A resident of Rudaki District died on 14 May. He contracted the disease after being bitten by ticks in his own cowshed, Jafarov said.

Meanwhile, the director of the national state environmental health and epidemiology inspectorate, Samariddin Aliyev, said that over the past five months, just three cases of people contracting haemorrhagic fever, including one that led to death, were registered in Tajikistan.
