Rendell Administration Hosts Digital Government Summit
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Hundreds of Information Technology (IT) professionals representing government agencies and businesses throughout the mid-Atlantic region gathered today at the 2007 Pennsylvania Digital Government Summit, hosted by the Governor’s Office of Administration.
“The annual Digital Summit continues to be one of the best venues for IT professionals who wish to learn about current and emerging technology trends,” said Kristen Miller, the state’s chief information officer. “In addition to offering important information, the event also offers an opportunity for networking and sharing of best practices.”
The event, now in its fifth year, included a day-and-a-half of professional seminars on topics including emerging technologies, shared services, Geographic Information System (GIS) trends and initiatives, intellectual property and the future of the Internet.
The summit included an exercise simulating a pandemic outbreak, which would dramatically impact every level of government. The exercise examined the technical and staffing challenges that might arise during such a public health emergency.
Nearly 400 participants from state, local and municipal government attended this year’s event. As in previous years, participation was free to all government employees. More information about the summit is available at http://www.govtech.com/.
