Parkland Health & Hospital System Signs With Language Access Network, Inc.

Language Access Network (OTC:LANW), the leader in video interpretation services, announced today that Parkland Health & Hospital System, a primary teaching hospital for the University of Texas located in Dallas, Texas, has signed a service agreement for MARTTI™ (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter) the Company's live video interpretation service. Service will begin in Parkland's new Simmons Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Language Access Network, Inc. will now provide Parkland with live video/audio interpretation services in American Sign Language (ASL) for the Deaf and Hard-Of-Hearing, Spanish, Vietnamese, and 150 other languages, to its patient contacts.
Offering the video interpretation service to its patients for free, Parkland Health & Hospital System will be charged a per-minute fee based upon the interpretation time they use.
Language Access Network estimates an average of 20% of all patients in the U.S. are Limited English Proficient, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or do not speak English well. LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a hospital environment, ER, Labor and Delivery, Clinic, etc. lasts between 7-12 minutes of time on the MARTTI™ unit, with a cost range of $1.75 - $2.95 per minute.

The Simmons Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is the first new facility in 20 years on Parkland's main campus. The two-story center houses six surgical and four endoscopic suites, as well as a pain center, physician offices and preparatory and recovery rooms.
