What: United Health Foundation, along with the American Public Health

Association (APHA), will host a media-only teleconference to

discuss America's Health: State Health Rankings, being released

on Monday, November 8. The 2004 edition marks the 15th annual

report about the healthiness of each state's population as well

as the healthiness of the American population.

Dr. Reed Tuckson, United Health Foundation vice president and

Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the APHA, will

discuss:

-- This year's report, its measures and the trends it reveals

-- How the states rank

-- State successes and challenges

-- The overall health of the United States

-- The nation's greatest challenges in the future (e.g.,

obesity, the uninsured, etc.)

-- What individuals can do to improve their own health as

well as the health of their state and nation

-- Where you can access the complete report

When: Monday, November 8, 2004 from 11:00-11:45 a.m. ET. RSVP

required.

Why: While America's overall health has improved during the past 15

years, this year's report shows that the rate of improvement is

slowing significantly due to a combination of personal,

community and public health issues. If we don't take action to

correct issues highlighted in this year's report, we as a nation

are in jeopardy of seeing these significant improvements

disappear.

Who: Dr. Tuckson serves as vice president for the United Health

Foundation. Formerly, Dr. Tuckson served as senior vice

president, professional standards, for the American Medical

Association (AMA). He is a former president of the Charles R.

Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles; has

served as senior vice president for programs of the March of

Dimes Birth Defects Foundation; and is a former commissioner of

public health for the District of Columbia.

Dr. Benjamin is the executive director for the American Public

Health Association (APHA). As a practicing physician, Dr.

Benjamin has held such positions as chief of the Acute Illness

Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash.; chief of

emergency medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center; chairman

of the Department of Community Health and Ambulatory Care at the

District of Columbia General Hospital; interim director of the

District's Emergency Ambulatory Bureau; and District of Columbia

health commissioner.

How: You will have the opportunity to ask questions during the

teleconference via a moderator (directions will be provided at

the time of the call). To ensure your ability to access the

teleconference, please RSVP to Lisa Carlson at (612) 573-3140 or

carlsonl@fleishman.com by Wednesday, November 3, 2004. *T
