CVS/Pharmacy June Same Store Sales Increase 5.4%

CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE: CVS) today announced that same store sales (sales from retail pharmacy stores open more than one year) in its CVS/pharmacy division for the five weeks ended June 30, 2007 increased 5.4% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same store sales increased 4.7%, and were negatively impacted by approximately 590 basis points due to recent generic introductions. Front-end same store sales increased 6.8%. Same store sales do not include the drugstores acquired on June 2, 2006, which will be included in same store sales following the one-year anniversary of the acquisition, beginning in fiscal July 2007.

For the second quarter, same store sales at CVS/pharmacy for the thirteen weeks ended June 30, 2007, increased 5.7% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same store sales increased 5.7% while front-end same store sales increased 5.9%.

Same store sales at CVS/pharmacy for the twenty six week period increased 6.5% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same store sales increased 6.7%, while front-end same store sales increased 6.2%.

During the four week period ended June 30, 2007, the Company opened 16 new stores, closed 7 stores and relocated 13 others. As of June 30, 2007, the Company operated 6,177 CVS/pharmacy stores in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
