Daxor Corporation (AMEX: DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a signed trial agreement from Christiana Care Health System for its second Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 to be located at Wilmington Hospital, in the downtown business district of Wilmington, Delaware. Christiana Care's first BVA-100 was installed and purchased at Christiana Hospital, located on a suburban campus south of the City of Wilmington.
Christiana Care Health System, which dates back to 1888, is one of the region's largest not-for profit health care providers, serving the people of Delaware as well as neighboring Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It is recognized as a regional center for excellence in cardiology, cancer and women's health services, as well as Level-I trauma care and Level-3 neonatal intensive care (both highest intensity). Christiana Care operates two hospitals, Christiana Hospital and Wilmington Hospital.
Christiana Care offers nearly 1,100 licensed hospital beds in two hospitals, a major regional Center for Heart and Vascular Health and the only Level-I trauma service on the East Coast corridor between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Dr. Timothy Manzone, Associate Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine of Christiana Care Health System, noted that, "Since December 2004, when we installed our first blood volume analyzer at Christiana Hospital, we have seen increasing clinical interest in BVA studies. The availability of rapid, accurate volume status assessment is proving of significant value in management of heart failure, as well as in critical care, perioperative management, and hematology. Other potential applications for blood volume analysis are continuing to emerge. Clinicians in our system have become accustomed to ordering blood volume analysis when they need this information for patient management, and we realized it was important that we make BVA studies readily available at both hospitals in our system."
Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex, Daxor's single use diagnostic kit. For more information regarding Daxor Corporation's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100, visit Daxor's website www.Daxor.com.
