Kemeta and Obesity Treatment Center Medical Group of Sacramento to Collaborate in Unique Weight Loss Study

PHOENIX, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Kemeta, LLC, an innovative, palm-size breath sensor company, today announced the collaboration with Obesity Treatment Center Medical Group (OTCMG) in Sacramento, CA. Kemeta is commercializing the first of its kind, palm-size breath analyzer for the detection and quantitation of human breath acetone, a known indicator of fat metabolism. By simply blowing into the Kemeta analyzer, the user receives immediate feedback on their fat burn rate. This biofeedback can assist the user in optimizing their diet and fitness programs. The Kemeta technology measures fat burn with no influence from the water weight or lean muscle mass changes which often de-motivate dieters using the common bathroom scale.
Kemeta and OTCMG are collaborating to demonstrate the efficacy of the Kemeta breath analyzer on people engaged in a medically supervised weight loss program. The study is scheduled to begin mid-summer.
"The opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Hernried and his clinic is quite an honor. After months of dedication by the team to bring this technology outside of the research laboratory, this is a pivotal event for Kemeta," says Dr. Joan K. Vrtis, President and CEO of Kemeta.
Dr. Hernried, Medical Director and Owner of the Obesity Treatment Center Medical Group, states, "We are excited to participate in this study. As a direct measurement of fat metabolism, this product has the potential to greatly assist physicians and their patients in treating obesity." In addition to the OTCMG, Dr. Hernried is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC Davis.
