Britain Today: Free Fruit is Squashed

GIVING out free fruit in schools may not have any long-term health benefits, experts said yesterday.
Under a multi-million-pound scheme headed by the Department of Health, all four to six-year-olds in state infant, primary and special schools are entitled to a free piece of fruit or vegetable every day. But a study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health questions its long-term benefits.
