Sudan’s Foreign Minister Hails Friendly States Role in Adoption of UN Resolution

Foreign Minister Dr Lam Akol has hailed the stances of friendly and brotherly countries that support Sudan in the UN Security Council and international meetings. He said the issue played a positive role in the adoption of UN resolution 1769 on the implementation of a hybrid force and Sudan’s acceptance to it.
In a press conference he held at the ministry today evening, he said the resolution clearly confirms that the UN will observe Sudan’s sovereignty and its independence and the safety of its territory as well as cooperation between Sudan and regional organizations referred to the AU to ensure security.
The resolution said the troops will be an African one, saying that the UN will fund the AU troops in Darfur before the deployment of the hybrid force.
