Kazakh Leader Hails Parliament Election As Transparent and Fair

Astana, 20 August: Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev describes the [18 August] election to the Majlis (lower chamber) of parliament as free and fair and the landslide victory of the [ruling] Nur Otan party as natural.
“Transparent, fair and just election, in which all political forces of the country took part, was conducted on the basis of a new election system meeting international standards,” he said at the 13th session of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan in Astana today.
