Iranians Held By US Forces in Baghdad Released – IRNA

Tehran, 29 August: Iran’s ambassador in Baghdad reported on Wednesday morning [29 August] that the members of the Iranian delegation detained by American forces had been released.

Hasan Kazemi-Qomi said: At seven o’clock this morning [local time], the Iranian delegation was handed over by the American troops to the Iraqi prime minister’s office.

According to a report last night by IRNA’s reporter in Baghdad, the members of an Iranian delegation who were visiting Iraq on the invitation of the Iraqi Electricity Ministry and on behalf of the [Iranian] Energy Ministry to carry out work for the provision of electricity were detained without any justification by American forces.
