For this first time in history a female Yeoman Warder was posted up at the Tower of London in full uniform Monday.

Moira Cameron, 42, said it was a great privilege to be a Beefeater, adding: This place is magical. It’s just a wonderful job and I’m very, very lucky to have it.

You wake up in the morning and you know you’re going to have a good day, she added.

Cameron became a Yeoman Warder in July after serving the required minimum 22 years in the Armed Forces.

Mostly she guards the Tower and the Crown Jewels while welcoming tourists, and in six months she will begin giving guided tours.

Despite being the first female Yeoman Warder in the tower, Cameron said she can’t quite match some of her male colleagues’ qualities.

Certain people epitomize what a Beefeater looks like, she said It needs to be with the beard, which obviously I’m not going to grow. People like to see a man with a beard.
