Tropical Depression Felix soaked Nicaragua and Honduras with rain Wednesday, a day after killing four people as a major hurricane.

In its final report on the storm early Wednesday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm’s winds had fallen to about 30 mph as it moved west near 9 mph close to Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

As much as 10 inches of rain was forecast for northern Nicaragua and as much as 15 for the mountainous regions of Honduras.

Just 24 hours earlier, Felix reached shore in Nicaragua as a massive Category 5 storm with winds of 160 mph.

The hospital and airport in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, were badly damaged and emergency officials said four people had been killed in the storm.

Central America was hit by Hurricane Dean in August, the first time the region has been struck by two Category 5 storms in one season. Ten people died in that storm.
