Romanian Senator Dies of Cardiac Arrest
Bucharest, Oct 4 (Rompres) – The senator of the opposing Social Democratic Party (PSD) Antonie Iorgovan died on Wednesday night after a cardiac arrest. Iorgovan was transferred on last Saturday from the University Hospital to a medical clinic in Vienna for evaluations and treatment.
Aged 59, the senator was hospitalized in late August at ‘Matei Bals’ Institute for an usual evaluation, as he had been found with pancreas cancer and underwent surgery two years ago in Germany.
Named ‘Father of the Constitution’, Antonie Iorgovan was president of the commission that drew up the first Romanian Constitution after the Revolution of 1989.
