Putin Flies in to Meet Merkel

–MOSCOW Vladimir Putin, Russia’s President, is to meet the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, today in Weisbaden, Germany, to try to reach agreement on issues from Iran to missile defence, after Russian-US talks failed to find common ground last week. Meanwhile, Mr Putin’s special services warned him yesterday of a possible plot to assassinate him during a visit to Tehran, after he leaves Germany.
