Israeli troops kill 2 Hamas militants in southern Gaza

GAZA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) — Israeli troops killed two Hamas militants on Wednesday night in east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, Hamas’ armed wing and paramedics said.

The paramedics said resident in the village of Abbassan, east of Khan Younis, called an ambulance to pick up the bodies of two militants with al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas armed wing.

The group said in a press statement that an Israeli special unit in the Israeli army penetrated into an area east of the village and shot dead two stationed Hamas militants near the borders with Israel.

Earlier on Wednesday, paramedics and witnesses said that two Palestinian teens were killed in an Israeli army artillery shelling at the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun.

The witnesses said the two children tried to pull back a rocketlauncher from an open area in the outskirts of the town, adding they suddenly heard a huge explosion in the area.

Paramedics said they picked up the remains of the two children’s bodies and took them to Kamal Odwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

Mo’aweya Hassanein, local chief of emergency conformed on a telephone conversation the two were killed.

Witnesses said the shelling came shortly after Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants launched three makeshift rockets from the areaat southern Israel.
