United Russia’s Success at Duma Elections “Putin’s Victory in First Round” – Gryzlov
December 3, 2007
MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) – The December 2 parliamentary elections were actually Russian President Vladimir Putin’s victory in the first round, United Russian party leader Boris Gryzlov told journalists on Sunday after the initial results of the parliamentary elections were announced.
“Given that the State Duma elections were actually a referendum in support of President Putin’s course, we can say that Putin has won in the first round,” Gryzlov said at the press conference at the party’s information center.
This is how initial results for United Russia can be assessed, he said.
