January 11, 2008 – Burma’s democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi – who has been under house arrest for 12 of the past 17 years – met with military officials on Friday. According to sources, Suu Kyi was driven from her Inya Lake in a convoy at about 1pm local time and met for one hour with Labour Minister Aung Kyi, who was last year appointed by the junta to liaise with Suu Kyi. This was their fourth meeting since the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrations in September. No further details of the meeting were available.
