Visiting Iran Nuclear Official Hopes for New Era of Relations With China

Beijing, 18 January: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Sa’id Jalili here Friday [18 January 08] hoped for a new era of cooperation between Tehran and Beijing.

“I hope the visit (his visit to China) will open a new era in the Iran-China cooperation,” said Jalili in a meeting with a member of China’s State Council Tang Jiaxuan.

Jalili said relations between Iran and China – a country with a rich history and old civilization – have always been based on friendship and cooperation.

He said he and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi had in a meeting discussed various subjects, including Tehran’s nuclear issue, and mutual cooperation in the economic sector.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Asia-Pacific Affairs Mehdi Safari and Iran’s ambassador to China Javad Mansuri were also present in the Jalili-Tang meeting.
