China Accuses Tibetans of Suicide Plot
China, continuing its attacks on the Dalai Lama, claimed Tibetan separatists are planning suicide attacks in their campaign for an independent Tibet.
To our knowledge, the next plan of the Tibetan ‘independence’ forces is to organize suicide squads for launching violent attacks, the China Daily quoted Chinese Public Security ministry spokesman Wu Heping as saying. They claim that they fear neither bloodshed nor sacrifice.
Wu announced his ministry would reveal more evidence to support the claim. He said the Lhasa unrest last month were part of the Tibetan People’s Uprising Movement launched by the Dalai clique in January to exert pressure on the Chinese government ahead of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The Tibetan government-in-exile in India denied the accusation, the BBC reported.
The Tibetan spiritual leader has consistently denied China’s accusations and expressed support for China’s hosting the Olympics.
The accusation of suicide attacks comes a day after China, accusing the Dalai Lama of spreading rumors, denied its soldiers had disguised themselves as Buddhist monks in the Lhasa unrest.
The Indian government has reportedly told the Dalai Lama that while he is welcome in the country, he should not do anything that would damage India’s improving relations with China.
