Kosovo Constitution to Enter into Force Today
The Kosovo constitution will enter in force today, reports Kosovo public television RTK on it's website 15 June 08, adding that for this occasion this evening at 1900 local time (1700 gmt), in the Red Hall of the Youth and Sport Palace in Pristina, a solemn ceremony will take place. As reported, the ceremony will start with performance of the Kosovo Republic anthem adopted on 11 June.
According to the RTK, "with this highest legal document Kosovo is envisaged as a multi-ethnic society comprised of Albanians and other communities, and it will be governed in a democratic way. The constitution is a modern act and contains basic principles of state- building. When constitution enters into force Kosovo institutions will undertake the responsibilities which were exercised until now by UNMIK."
Kosovo constitution has 14 chapters and 150 articles. It advances the role of the Kosovo president who will become a Supreme Commander of Kosovo Security Force (KSF). The KSF will be established by the end of the year, RTK reports.
