Chinese Officials, Dalai Lama Begin Talks – Tibet Government-in- Exile
Text of report in English by Japan's largest news agency Kyodo
New Delhi, July 1 Kyodo - Chinese government officials and envoys of the Dalai Lama began a second round of talks Tuesday in Beijing, a spokesman of the Tibetan government-in-exile said.
The talks, which Tibetan government-in-exile officials earlier said were scheduled for two days, mark the second time the two sides have met since the riots and protests broke out in March and April in Tibet and neighbouring areas inhabited by ethnic Tibetans.
Talks held in the southern Chinese city Shenzhen in May between two senior envoys from the Dalai Lama and Chinese Communist Party officials ended without any apparent breakthrough.
