Karadzic’s Extradition “Scandalous” – Serbian Official
Text of report by Bosnian Serb news agency SRNA
Belgrade, 30 July: Lawyer Svetozar Vujacic and Karadzic’s family have learnt from the media that Radovan Karadzic has been extradited.
Serbian academician Kosta Cavoski, tipped as a member of Karadzic’s defence team, has said for SRNA that Karadzic’s extradition was scandalous and done in a very problematic way.
“They are very afraid. I do not expect anything good from this government,” Cavoski said in his first reaction following Karadzic’s extradition from Serbia to the Hague tribunal.
Someone who has been arrested illegally gets freed in America, he said, adding that Serbia is not America.
Cavoski believes that Karadzic’s extradition to the tribunal will not help calm the Balkan region but will make things worse.
Since Karadzic was arrested on 21 July, the lawyer and Karadzic’s friends have been demanding that his personal laptop and 50 disks containing material for his defence be returned.
