Sudanese President Meets Turkish Counterpart, Discusses Agricultural Investment

Istanbul, 19 August: President of the Republic Field Marshal Umar al-Bashir has affirmed that the government is exerting great efforts for realizing peace and stability in Darfur, pointing out that allegations on existence of genocide in Darfur are untrue and baseless and sheer lies.
President Al-Bashir lauded all the political forces in Sudan that have agreed on principles for solution of Darfur problem, pointing out that the Sudanese people are capable of solving their own problems.
President Al-Bashir discussed in a meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul on the sidelines of the African-Turkish Summit in Istanbul Tuesday [19 August] the relations between Sudan and Turkey, praising the idea of the forum that would boost the partnership between Africa and Turkey, especially that the African continent possesses huge resources.
State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Al-Samani al- Wasilah said in a press statement following the meeting that the two presidents discussed the economic and investment relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of agriculture, mining and oil, indicating that Turkey's concern with Sudan stems from its pivotal location in the African continent. He added that President Al-Bashir pointed during the meeting to the targeting Sudan is facing for its vast resources, calling for more cooperation with Turkey and expressing Sudan's readiness to extend all facilities to the Turkish companies that desire to invest in the country.
President Al-Bashir urged the Turkish side to invest in the agricultural field to benefit from the country's agricultural resources, particularly under the increasing demands on food and the vast areas of arable lands Sudan possesses.
The Turkish President, on his part, lauded the Sudanese-Turkish relations, expressing his country's desire to invest in the field of petroleum in Sudan, referring to the vast resources Sudan is endowed with in all fields, especially agriculture and animal resources.
