US Embassy in Lebanon Asks Public to Help Locate Two Missing Journalists

Beirut, 8 October (NNA) – The US Embassy in Beirut has issued the following statement: “The families of Miss Holli Chmela, 27, and Mr Taylor Luck, 23, are asking for the public’s help in providing information on the whereabouts of the two US citizens. They have not been heard from since October 1, 2008 when they reportedly departed Beirut en route to Byblos and Tripoli.
Chmela and Luck arrived in Lebanon on September 29 from Amman, Jordan, on vacation. Chmela and Luck told a friend on 1 October that they were travelling from Beirut to Tripoli via Byblos that same day. They were then to travel by land to Syria before returning to Jordan. Chmela and Luck were supposed to report to work in Jordan on 4 October. The US Embassy is working with the Lebanese Internal Security Force and the General Security to obtain further leads in this investigation. In addition, the US. Embassy in Beirut is working in coordination with the US embassies in Amman and Damascus as well as with the Department of State in Washington.
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Chmela or Luck, please call the US Embassy at 04542600, the Internal Security Force operation room at 01-425-250, or the Internal Security Force emergency at 112.”
