Israeli planes have dropped leaflets over cities of south Lebanon, warning the Lebanese government and people of the consequences of Hezbollah attacks.
Lebanese security sources said the leaflets dropped during the night Wednesday were signed by the state of Israel and addressed to the Lebanese people and government.
Hezbollah, which is known to serve foreign interests, carried out a terrorist operation inside Israel to lure it into retaliation in order to serve its terrorist presence, the leaflet said.
These acts are irresponsible and would result in destruction and drag Lebanon back to the years of terror after hope had risen for a new, calm and prosperous Lebanon, the leaflet added.
The leaflet called on the Lebanese government and people not to let Hezbollah jeopardize Lebanon's future and push it toward escalation.
It also held the Lebanese government responsible for any hostile action originating from Lebanese territory.
Violence flared on the Lebanese-Israeli border Wednesday when Israel and Hezbollah traded heavy gunfire. Hezbollah said an Israeli patrol crossed the Blue Line separating the two countries and was confronted by Hezbollah gunmen, inflicting several casualties among Israeli troops.
