Melamine Found in Hong Kong Eggs

Hong Kong officials say they have found eggs from mainland China and crackers from the Philippines containing the chemical melamine.
Hong Kong's Center for Food Safety announced the melamine was found in a sample of the Select Fresh brown eggs (extra large), produced by China's Dalian Hanwei Chicken Farming Ltd., the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported Sunday. The melamine was reportedly found at concentrations of 4.7 parts per million, nearly twice the legal limit.
Food safety officials also found high levels of melamine in samples of Croley Foods Sunflower Crackers Blueberry Cream Sandwich, which are sold in large packs containing 10 small individual packs with an expiration date of Dec. 5, the news agency reported.
"We have informed the food trade of the test results and asked them to stop selling the products with unsatisfactory results," CFS officials said, adding they would "take out prosecution if there is sufficient evidence."
