Two dead as helicopter crashes at Rio university

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (Reuters) - A Brazilian navalhelicopter crashed and burst into flames in a universitycourtyard in downtown Rio de Janeiro on Monday, killing the twopilots, firefighters said.

"The helicopter also damaged part of the building butnobody was injured or killed in the university," said firebrigade spokesman Col. Rony Azevedo. "The crew died and theirbodies are badly charred."

Firefighters at the scene said the helicopter belonged tothe Brazilian navy.

Firefighters closed the street next to the BennettMethodist University during the rush hour. The damagedbuilding, in the bayside Flamengo district not far from thecity center, was evacuated.
