Lebanon parliament nominates anti-Syrian PM
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanon's parliament nominated onThursday anti-Syrian former finance minister Fouad Siniora tohead the first government without Syrian troops in the countryin three decades, officials said.
MPs made their choice during consultations with PresidentEmile Lahoud, a close Syrian ally. Lahoud is obliged to accepttheir choice and was expected to formally appoint Siniora asprime minister-designate later in the day.
