Israeli Foreign Minister Says No Western Country "Immune to Terrorists"

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom has expressed shock and sorrow at the assassination of Ihab al-Sharif, Egypt's ambassador-designate in Iraq, and has sent his condolences to President Mubarak and to the government in Cairo.
Minister Shalom pointed out that many Israelis had come to know Al-Sharif's talents, gentleness and his efforts to improve Egyptian- Israeli ties during his tenure as charge d'affaires in Tel Aviv.
[Israeli Ynet website in English added at 1305 gmt that addressing a business convention in Tel Aviv, Shalom said that "no Western country is immune to terrorists, who hit London and Madrid already", and that "full cooperation is required among all democratic countries in the world in the face of the global terror offensive".]
