The identity of the London bus bomber -- who died in the blast -- led police to make an arrest in connection with the attacks Tuesday.
Police told a press conference they believed all four bombers may have died in the explosion. All the men were British born, they reported.
Property belonging to the bombers were found at the scenes, they said, and they had been identified on surveillance cameras.
Police did not comment on whether the bombers killed themselves deliberately.
No further information was given on the man arrested.
Earlier police carried out two controlled explosions at Luton train station after a car suspected of being linked to the bombings was found in the car park.
Anti-terrorism officers also raided six houses in Leeds and conducted a controlled explosion as part of the investigation into the attacks, which killed at least 52 people.
Armed police and the army took up positions around the abandoned house in the Burley district of the city.
Some 600 people were evacuated from nearby houses, a health center, a mosque and an old people's home.
