The Israeli security forces have foiled an attempted suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. The authorities arrested Jihad Shahadah, 18, from the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip near Kibbutz Nir- Am, while he was wearing an explosive belt. Bomb disposal experts safely detonated the explosives belt, which weighed 5 kg.
Yesterday, the Israel Police arrested a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip in Yafo. He is suspected of having helped the terrorist infiltrate into Israel through the Gaza security fence. Under interrogation, it turned out that Shahadah had been sent by the Fatah movement's Al-Aqsa Brigades to carry out a suicide attack at a crowded location in Tel Aviv. The two men were remanded in custody for another eight days.
