Cairo, 28 July: Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu-al-Ghayt has sent verbal messages to the foreign ministers of European countries, the US and Japan, following the terrorist events in Sharm al-Shaykh, which have been condemned by all countries and peoples of the world. The foreign minister reviewed in these messages the strict security measures taken by Egyptian authorities everywhere and the measures taken to protect buildings, individuals and tourists, in addition to the current steps to find the perpetrators and those behind them and to bring them before the courts.
The foreign minister also urged his counterparts not to warn their citizens against travelling to Egypt or Sinai, and to reconsider statements issued immediately after the events. He stressed that the continuation of normal life was the strongest message the world could send in denouncing these criminal acts.
Within the same context, the foreign minister will meet a senior Italian envoy tomorrow to discuss the issue and consider Italy's cancelling the warning previously issued in this regard.
