Beijing, 30 July: In the opinion of the South Korean delegation, the current round of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue in Beijing may end next Wednesday, 3 August, a South Korean source close to the talks told Interfax-China on Saturday [30 July].
The source said that the South Korean delegation's officials believe that the fourth round of the talks "will most likely end on Wednesday". He advised Japanese [as received] journalists attending the talks to book return flights to South Korea for Thursday [4 August].
An informed Chinese source earlier told Interfax that the talks had been preliminarily expected to end last Friday [29 July]. However due to more active bilateral contacts between the delegations of North Korea and the USA, "which is a good sign", the talks had been extended indefinitely.
The talks' final date depends on how the situation at the US- North Korean consultations develops, the source said.
