U.N.: Denmark Violated Deportee’s Rights

The U.N. Commission on Human Rights has said that Denmark violated the rights of a Ugandan man by deporting him.

The commission said the Danish government had not considered the risk of torture or inhumane treatment that the man faced in his homeland because of his past activities, which included serving in the army under Idi Amin, the Copenhagen Post reported.

The man and his family had been living in Copenhagen with the status of tolerated residents, unable to work, receive social services or government medical care.

The deportation was ordered because of a conviction on a narcotics charge.
