Four Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan Bombing
August 21, 2005
The U.S. troop casualty count is growing in Afghanistan as the military announced Sunday four more soldiers have been killed.
CNN reports the troops were killed in a bombing south of Deh Chopan, Afghanistan.
Three more soldiers were wounded trying to rescue fellow soldiers and treated for shrapnel wounds.
The soldiers were part of a unit sweeping out suspected insurgents from the area to calm the growing violence before the elections in September.
Two-hundred thirty U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan, including 11 in August.
Seventeen Spanish soldiers died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan last week.
