Two Killed, 13 Wounded in Iraqi Police Clash With Gunmen in Baghdad - TV

A battle broke out in the Al-Jami'ah district, western Baghdad, between unidentified gunmen and members of the Iraqi police after the explosion of a booby-trapped car which was targeting an Iraqi police patrol.

Al-Sharqiyah Television correspondent reported that the car exploded while the patrol was travelling through the Al-Rabi district - Al-Jam'iah district intersection. Gunmen opened fire at the policemen, who returned fire.

Commenting on the initial casualty toll of the explosion and exchange of fire, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source said two people were killed and 13 were wounded. Four cars were burnt on the Al- Ghaziliyah Bridge near the Al-Jami'ah district.

The US forces blocked the roads leading to the scene of the incident and helicopters flew over the area. [Video shows the aftermath of explosion]
